AALTCN Expands with the Addition of Clinical Learning Center

The American Association for Long Term Care Nursing (AALTCN) is excited to announce the expansion of their Cincinnati headquarters with the addition of a Learning Center, outfitted with the latest technology and equipment used to support safe care. This project was made possible through a generous sponsorship from RoMedic Inc, a Handicare Company. It reflects the shared commitment of RoMedic and AALTCN to providing a safe environment for employees and residents/patients. Special thanks also to MC Healthcare Products for supplying a long-term care bed and to WY'East Medical for the TotaLift Transfer Chair.

"Nursing home providers who have implemented a safety program understand that the key to success is competency training, not just the purchase of equipment" says AALTCN's Director of Professional Services, Ron Romano, who has been involved in this field for decades. "A comprehensive approach to safety offers considerable positive outcomes for nursing homes, including a decrease staff and resident injury, increase staff and resident satisfaction, and a significant decrease in cost associated with staff turnover and injury."  

The Learning Center is equipped with the latest technology and equipment used in safe care technology and provides a site for live training experiences, as well as the production of training webinars and videos. The Learning Center is part of AALTCN's leadership in equipping nursing staff to promote a culture of safety in long term care settings. AALTCN has recently released a Safety Specialist Certification Program for LTC Nurses and is a co-sponsor of the Annual Safe Patient Handling Conference where it has been instrumental in introducing education specific to long term care.  It also has created the "Creating a Culture of Safety Forum" on its website which offers education, fact sheets, and resources; this can be found on AALTCN's website at www.LTCNursing.org.
